This course provides essential training for individuals operating VHF marine radios on Canadian vessels. Participants will learn proper radio procedures, emergency communication protocols, and the use of Digital Selective Calling (DSC) and the Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS). Training includes interactive lectures, practical demonstrations, real-life scenarios, and hands-on radio operation exercises.

Completion Requirements
- Successfully demonstrate required radio operation skills
- Achieve a minimum 75% score on the written, closed-book knowledge exam
- Attend and participate in 100% of the course
Certification
Lifetime certification in Restricted Operator Certificate - Maritime (ROC-M) Issued by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada
The ROC-M certification is valid for life, with no renewal required. However, participants are encouraged to stay updated with new technologies and regulations. Some employers or agencies may require periodic refresher training.
